Additionally, a commercial grade zero turn mower reduces the amount of trimming and edging necessary per job while also reducing operator fatigue. Your company depends on you and you depend on your company, therefore, you need the best possible mower for your work.
Old Idea With Modern Power
The first zero turn mowers were designed specifically for the commercial market in the early 1900’s. However, commercial landscaping services were few and far between and more manufacturers put a hold on providing zero turn mowers to consumers.
However, after World War Two, more and more homes and businesses came into being and along with this boom, came the need to commercial landscaping companies. By the middle 60’s both commercial landscape companies and facility management recognized the benefit of the zero turn mower system. Since that time, they have grown in power and performance to become the mainstay of the commercial mowing services.
How Z-Turn Works
Zero turn mowers, or Z-turn as they are often called, works by having a pair of levers or joysticks. One lever is pushed forward while the opposite lever is pulled back. Working similar to the old caterpillar tractors, the lever pulled stops the drive wheel and the push level allows for full motion and thus the mower spins on a zero axis. Since the deck is mounted forward of the operator position, this allows the cutting blades to make a full circle. Along with the deck size, this allows for a wide cutting area.
